Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $94. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Consultant

The Consultant is responsible for performing analytical studies and providing consulting support to S&C's customers in the areas of network planning, protection, and distributed generator interconnection, including power flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, and reliability studies.

They are also required to play a lead role in business development activities, promoting S&C's Consulting and Analytical Services and product range through consulting projects, ensuring that customer expectations and CAS KPIs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain CAS project plans and other documentation defining project objectives, scope, deliverables, resource allocation, roles and responsibilities, budget, timelines, and quality gates for each project phase
  • Manage CAS projects end-to-end using various project management tools, including Microsoft Project and other systems/software
  • Monitor project delivery and provide status updates and reports to customers, project teams, leaders, and third parties at an agreed-upon cadence, leveraging various communication methods to ensure customers feel heard and information flows effectively
  • Schedule, lead, and/or participate actively in project meetings, facilitating clear communication, taking detailed notes, and updating project plans/trackers to ensure efficient follow-up and execution of actions to keep stakeholders accountable
  • Perform analytical studies utilising PSS Sincal, DigSilent PowerFactory, PSS/E and other power system analysis software in the areas of network planning, protection, and distributed generator interconnection
  • Provide specialised analytical study support to promote S&C product applications, including protective device coordination, reliability analysis, and other analyses as needed
  • Provide customer and team member training on S&C products and services, as well as network planning, design, operation, and equipment applications or industry topics of interest
  • Track project hours in Oracle and inform accounts/administration of invoicing requirements and variations to contracts
  • Provide support to the sales team in selling CAS projects and feed through product sales
  • Promote S&C's consulting and analytical services through industry meetings, customer meetings, and approved social media platforms
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum (10) ten years of experience with electric transmission and distribution systems, specifically performing analytical studies
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of utility and commercial/industrial best practices for medium-voltage applications and working with protection schemes, device coordination, reliability analysis, generation interconnection and other studies
  • Detailed knowledge of industry standards, including IEEE, IEC, and NFPA
  • Proficient in the use of Power System Analysis software, including PSS Sincal
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience using Oracle and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to assess data to drive informed decisions and apply a creative approach to problem solving complex issues
  • Fosters relationships built on mutual trust and respect and is a role model for creating a collaborative working environment amongst diverse audiences
  • Interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships in person and in a remote environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from leadership to support staff
  • Able to successfully present to a variety of audiences, both small face-to-face interactions, large conferences and formal presentations
  • Creative and persuasive in communicating and influencing outcomes across a broad customer base and with internal stakeholders
  • Practical organisational, planning and project management skills, coordinating internal and external resources and juggling diverse projects and tactical assignments
  • Act as a technical leader and leverage subject matter expertise to train other members of the team
  • Proactive and self-motivated with continuing technical and project management education and skills
  • Professional Engineer - PE (USA) or other internationally recognized Engineering certification

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in CRM systems (Salesforce desirable), maintaining and leveraging data for reporting purposes
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical utility distribution systems and S&C's product and services portfolio
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2
