The US Tax Analytics team at AES integrates operations, technology and modeling to go beyond traditional compliance and reporting, generating actionable insights from data to support strategic decision-making. The team oversees all aspects of U.S. federal income tax compliance (both domestic and international), state and local tax filings, components of quarterly income tax provision, long-term forecasting, data analytics and visualization, modeling of tax legislative changes, and support for tax controversy matters.

Position Summary:

The Corporate Tax Associate supports a wide range of U.S. tax matters within a dynamic multinational environment. The role involves conducting technical research and analysis to support corporate tax reporting and planning initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to tax compliance processes, perform quantitative analysis, and help develop and utilize tax and financial models for multi-variable scenario planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tax analysis in support of business transactions and quarterly reporting requirements; conduct research and document positions.
  • Assist with tax reporting requirements, including preparatory work in support of tax compliance, controversy, transfer pricing and tax accounting.
  • Develop an understanding of the evolving tax law environment globally and begin to follow specific areas of tax policy.
  • Proactively manage workload, anticipate impediments and communicate status of deliverables.
  • Perform quantitative analysis to determine tax attributes, develop dynamic models with assumption-based inputs; document methodology and processes.
  • Build and apply a base of tax technical knowledge that facilitates the optimization and accurate forecasting of AES' tax posture.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and complete tax reporting results.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and analytical tools to deliver reliable, data-driven insights.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing tax regulations and organizational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with financial statements, accounting concepts, and public company filing obligations.
  • Understanding of global financial markets and commerce.
  • Interest in U.S. tax law and policy, and its practical application in a multinational setting.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with a curious mindset and willingness to challenge assumptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and financial modeling; familiarity with Power Query is a plus.
