Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Project Financial Specialist/Project Management Deputy (PMD) professional to join our team in Boston. The Project Financial Specialist/Project Management Deputy (PMD) is responsible for representing the Business Unit Manager (BUM) with accounting and financial matters. The successful candidate will be an independent problem-solver, skilled in people management, and a clear communicator confident with speaking and presenting to PM's on project finance.

While performing these duties the Project Financial Specialist/Project Management Deputy (PMD)will act as the primary contact with Corporate Accounting and will be held to Dewberry's established accounting standards. The accounting standards will be established, communicated and trained by Corporate Accounting.

Responsibilities

    Investigate, analyze, and report on issues related to project performance.
  • Support the Project Manager in regular project audits and participate on problem identification and resolution.
  • Assist and compile responses for monthly reporting on tight deadlines.
  • Coordinate with the Project Accountant (PA), Business Unit Manager (BUM) and Project Manager to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial and accounting related matters for the projects (jobs) within their assigned BU or PM.
  • Assist with the day-to-day financial management of their assigned projects to include job/contract set up, subcontractor requisition preparation, contract verification, review and verification of job setup, invoicing, initiation of adjustments to invoices, sub consultant management, accounts receivable tracking, collections, job close out and any other job specific financial matter.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with their primary PA to ensure efficient, timely and quality results.
  • Assist as necessary with inquiries on time entry, travel, expense reporting and other business processes.
  • Participate in companywide calls on related to PMD's. Communicate important action items and processes to the BUM and oversee implementation throughout the office.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field.
  • Ability to interpret data such as accounts receivable, profit & loss statements and identify issues based on trends.
  • Knowledge of business contracts and invoice processing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, knowledge of Vantagepoint, and the use and application of business tools and workflows.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Self-starter, with demonstrated ability to translate direction, feedback, and strategy into actionable results.
  • Strong collaboration skills with employees at all levels and from various parts of an organization.
  • Proactive and interested in learning more about project and business management.
  • Ability to work in the office a minimum of 4 days per week.
  • Experience with MassDOT and MBTA contracts and invoicing is desired.
