Library Job Description
The Library Information Specialist will serve as the Night Manager for the Thomas Jefferson Library, overseeing library operations during the evening hours, Sunday through Thursday. This position will perform circulation desk duties such as checking materials in/out, assist library patrons with inquiries or other needs that arise, monitor and enforce library rules, and maintain a safe environment for patrons and library staff. The Library Information Specialist will assist in the supervision of the student assistants who staff the Public Service Desk during the evening hours. Student assistants staff the Public Service Desk during all hours the library building is open, greeting library patrons and providing directional assistance or referring them to the appropriate librarian, ensuring that the library can most efficiently meet the research needs of the UMSL community. The Library Information Specialist will supervise the daily processing of book lending through the MOBIUS library consortium and act as liaison with other member libraries to resolve problems dealing with the lending or receipt of consortium materials. The position will be responsible for enforcing policies and procedures for consortium lending which are in line with consortium agreements and library policy, maintaining MOBIUS statistical reports, and monitoring the status of items in-transit through the FOLIO library services system. The Library Information Specialist will serve as the point person for the Library's ongoing RFID tagging project. This project aims to place an RFID tag on all print materials in the building to significantly enhance efficiency in book checkouts, returns, and inventory management. RFID tags will reduce manual errors, improve tracking accuracy, enable real-time updates of the library's collection, and enhance security by reducing the risk of lost or misplaced items. This position will also be responsible for other circulation and access services duties as assigned, including billing for lost and overdue library materials and other special projects. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications

Salary Range: $17.05 - $22.59 Application Materials
