Job Description

The Quality & CI Manager will provide leadership and support for ongoing maintenance and compliance to RR Donnelley Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, regulatory requirements, metrics performance and continual improvement. This position will provide methodological support to the sites (RRD and outsourcing) which work with North American Packaging, in matters related to quality, CI, regulatory requirements, confidentiality and other services. The Quality & CI Manager will lead the quality resolution process for platform accounts or key strategic clients (SCAR Process: Containment actions, root cause analysis, CAPA and effectiveness verification). The Quality & CI Manager will also conduct assessments to identify opportunities, coordinate corrective & preventive actions implementation, develop the local team and support the problem solving process.

  • Customer on-boarding process
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) Process.
  • Customer audits and facility assessment (RRD and suppliers).
  • Quality Management System (ISO9001)
  • Color Management.
  • Lead quality resolution process (Containment actions, root cause analysis, CAPA and effectiveness verification).
  • Process Validation.
  • Lead the implementation of QA & QC methodologies: IQC, IPQC, OQC and SCP.
  • Supplier Development - Establish and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers (Internal and external), drivekey initiatives and continuous quality improvement.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives such as 6 Sigma, OPL, 5S, SMED, Process Confirmation, G8D, PPAP,PPS, Visual Management, Value stream mapping, Paper Yield, etc.
  • Follow up with the Product Safety leaders of each plant to comply with regulatory requirements, such as REACH,RoHS, Prop 65, CPSIA, Conflict Minerals, among others. (This only applies to key strategic accounts)
  • Assist on-boarding/auditing cGMP sites.
  • Material & product certification process.
  • Sustainability (ISO14001) and Chain of Custody (FSC, SFI and PEFC)
  • Code of Conduct and Social Responsibility support. (This only applies to key strategic accounts)
  • Lead initiatives related to intellectual property protection and confidentiality systems. (This only applies to keystrategic accounts).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar is required
  • 5 years experience working on Quality & CI areas.
  • 5 years experience working for packaging companies (Printed paperboard).
  • Compliance certifications knowledge: ISO9001, ISO14000, cGMP, Props 65, REACH and RoHS
  • Lean manufacturing & QA tools knowledge: 5S, SMED, 6 Sigma, G8D, PPAP, VSM, Process Validation and IQC,IPQC &OQC.
  • Black Belt (desirable).
  • cGMP knowledge (desirable).
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, empathy, social sensitivity, collaboration and relationship building at all levels within RRD, customers and our supplier's organization to accomplish objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to modify style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills - able to apply broad work experiences and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able to identify critical elements and variables to resolve problems.
  • Language skills: Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and Minitab.
  • Can work independently with little supervision as well as work effectively with teams
  • Must be able to travel 40%-50% of the time.

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $77,900 - $124,600 / year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
