PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Instructional Technology Assistants (ITAs) provide support for the IT-FITS program by providing Scripps faculty and students with computer software assistance. ITAs build on their technical expertise, communication skills, and patience to help faculty use their computers and computer programs more effectively. ITAs work withand provide user support forindustry-standardtechnology.

IT-FITS is an innovative program that continues to help Scripps professors implement technology to teach more effectively, give presentations, publish websites, and more. ITAs also provide user support forScrippsstudents through workshops and individual meetings.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This information is intended to be a descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position.The list of essential functions below does not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent in this position. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Provide one-on-one training to faculty in their campus offices, classrooms, via Zoom or in the Faculty computer lab.
  • Check and respond to ticket requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of clients' issues and troubleshooting steps taken, as well as provide clear communication to clients.
  • Create websites, tutorials and other resources for faculty.
  • Assistance in designing and hosting faculty and student technology training workshops.
  • Guide faculty and students in using computer software and hardware (Canvas, Sakai, Zoom, etc.) using non-technical language.
  • Update the ITFITS website using WordPress.
  • Weekly team check-ins and post regular updates via Teams.
  • Work independently to accommodate walk-ins and telephone support.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Individuals must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from high school with at least two years of college level coursesor anycombination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job.

Some experience working in Instructional Technology is preferred.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:

This is a temporary status, part-time (no more than 30 hours per week), non-benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.

The regular hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:30 am-3:00 pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.

The position is scheduled to begin on or around June 30, 2025, and is anticipated to end on or before August 22, 2025. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Hourly rate: $17.00. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None.
