Your role with usAs a Registrar in the Emergency Department at Salem Health, you will courteously admit and register all patients, accurately capturing their demographic, insurance, and financial information in the electronic medical record system. You'll verify insurance eligibility, obtain necessary authorizations, manage registration errors, and provide exceptional customer service while adhering to regulatory and workflow standards, all while supporting continuous improvement through Lean principles and team collaboration.What you'll do Accurately collects and enters demographic, insurance, and financial information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), ensuring all necessary consents and forms are completed. Verifies insurance eligibility, obtains required authorizations or referrals, and determines correct filing order and copayments using online tools and phone contact. Efficiently performs all registration tasks within Epic, including arrivals, HAR creation, check-ins, and applying downtime procedures when necessary. Monitors and resolves registration-related errors in workqueues within three days, ensuring data accuracy and smooth workflow. Provides flexible registration support across various departments (e.g., ED, Family Birth Center) while following department-specific workflows. Delivers high-quality service to patients and staff by adhering to AIDET principles, demonstrating empathy, and maintaining professional communication. Participates in Lean problem-solving, training initiatives, and updates to standard work to enhance team performance and workflow efficiency.Required qualifications1 year of experience working in a fast-paced customer service environment that included substantial use of data entry and keyboard skills.Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel). Additional information Successful candidate will have experience in a health care administrative or clerical environment, including experience with EPIC or other electronic medical record (EMR) system.
