POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Operations Manager is responsible for all Filter operations. Together with the department Foremans, Supervisors, team leads, and plant resources, the Operations Manager shall insure that sales commitments of the Plant are fulfilled with the highest quality in an efficient, safe and profitable manner.

In addition, this position is to implement and oversee continuous improvement strategies and ideas designed to reduce cost, eliminate product / process variability and achieve measurable increases in manufacturing margins, quality, productivity, safety, and related operational / customer satisfaction performance measures. This role applies methods to enhance production capability and volume, efficiencies and yields while meeting or exceeding quality standards and customer specifications as well as serves as part of a multi- disciplinary leadership team to promote and drive continuous improvement activities for AAF Flanders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Corporate and facility leadership / management support teams including quality, engineering, logistics, supply chain and manufacturing to assist with facility and corporate continuous improvement initiatives, training and reporting
  • Analyze production and operating data to both manage and implement continuous improvement initiatives, tools and processes
  • Apply industry standard best practices including Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen and related continuous improvement tools to eliminate waste and process variability and maximize operating performance
  • Acts as a liaison with continuous improvement vendors for corporate and site specific locations
  • Drive the implementation of 5S and Continuous Improvements Initiatives
  • Both oversee and coordinate with the plant engineers on engineering projects.
  • Manage the manufacturing operations at the Flanders Filters Road facility.
  • Manage the daily upkeep of the facility
  • Establish and direct plant policies and procedures
  • Responsible for meeting plant production goals
  • Responsible for the product quality control for the plant
  • Review and approve supply and purchase requisitions as required
  • Coordinate and direct the Plant's resources to resolve "in-house" and customer related problems
  • Insure root cause is determined and positive corrective action is taken
  • Define budgetary needs, both capital and personnel, required to support the company objectives
  • Insure that company safety objectives are met
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Process Engineering required; or five (5) or more years of an equivalent combination of training and experience; or an in-depth specialized training program directly related to the type of work being performed will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of operations, product or continuous improvement management or engineering experience in a high volume multi- site manufacturing environment with manual / automated assembly operations
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task; sound project management skills and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Must be a self-starter, willing to make sound decisions, and initiate action without prior counseling or direction.
  • Strong background in Continuous Improvement and Team Building.
  • Must possess the technical knowledge and personal integrity to earn the respect of subordinates. Management skills are needed to be able to direct the daily operations of the facility along with the ability to develop and lead multi- disciplinary teams
  • Supervision is required to handle questions and problems on the production floor.
  • Uses established standards to select the correct process for each product.
  • Expert on 5S initiatives.
