Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director, implements, modernizes, and/or administers the activities of the University of Missouri's Missouri Cancer Registry and Research Center (MCR).

Job Responsibilities:
Designs and implements informatics solutions, such as Python scripts and machine learning models, to automate cancer registry workflows. Conducts probabilistic linkage to integrate registry data with pathology datasets. Executes data deduplication protocols to ensure data accuracy and consistency. Oversees the administration and maintenance of the MCR website. Creates public tools and interactive dashboards for visualizing Missouri cancer incidence data. Develops and maintains the Missouri cancer incidence research database for the SEER*Stat statistical software tool. Writes and executes complex SQL queries, facilitates data retrieval and analysis, and ensures timely access to critical information for decision-making purposes. Develops and optimizes automated geocoding solutions to accurately map patient records. Researches, optimizes, and applies Large Language Models to streamline the processing of electronic pathology reporting. Responds to data requests by querying and extracting information from the cancer registry database, using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and digital pathology platforms. Designs, implements, and oversees data request forms to facilitate research and information access. Oversees and mentors students (GRAs) on various research projects. Contributes to dissemination of up-to-date data. Develops working relationships with various internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed. Receives instruction, guidance, and/or direction from more senior level roles.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Data Science, Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Health Information Technology or related field. One year of experience working in healthcare informatics with the following: pathology-based cancer registry systems; electronic pathology reporting; Python scripts and machine learning models; electronic medical records (EMR) systems and digital pathology platforms; writing and executing complex SQL queries; and facilitating data retrieval and analysis. ALTERNATE: Bachelor's degree and three years of the above experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

This position is grant funded. Employment is contingent upon available grant funding.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $65,894 - $83,179.
