VP OF ARCHITECTURE - Lead the Design Division at Gorman & Company

Gorman & Company is seeking a experienced Architect and leader to run our Architecture division. The VP of Architecture reports to the SVP/COO/CFO and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. The VP is responsible for managing the in-house architecture department for multi-family and hospitality real estate development projects. Responsibilities:


  • Manage a team of architects and design team members on new construction, historic adaptive reuse, and acquisition rehab projects.
  • Partner with the Regional Developers (Market Presidents) on various development projects in multiple states.
  • Actively manage aspects of the design process, including: project feasibility, creative vision, financial analysis, market research, demographic studies, entitlements and other municipal approvals, in addition to the oversight of design and architectural staff.
  • Review and approve architectural plans during schematic, design development, and construction drawing phases.
  • Produce presentation memos and vision documents for internal leaders to highlight investment opportunities.
  • Manage project budgets and underwriting to ensure that projects attain target investment outcomes.
  • Work closely with staff and business leaders across the organization to drive projects from inception to completion.
  • Build a strong relationship with the Operations/Property Management team to ensure that projects have internal support and do not adversely impact current Gorman residents.
  • Build a strong relationship with the Construction team to ensure successful pre-construction planning and construction completion of complex projects.
  • Partner with Gorman's Finance team to create and maintain detailed financial models and reports.
  • Overall responsibility for all projects from start to finish.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of experience with multi-family and/or hospitality design.
  • Five years of experience leading and managing a design team.
  • Architectural registration and NCARB certificate preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is required.
  • Able to prioritize effectively, remain committed to deadlines, and support a team attitude.
