Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of architects and design team members on new construction, historic adaptive reuse, and acquisition rehab projects.
- Partner with the Regional Developers (Market Presidents) on various development projects in multiple states.
- Actively manage aspects of the design process, including: project feasibility, creative vision, financial analysis, market research, demographic studies, entitlements and other municipal approvals, in addition to the oversight of design and architectural staff.
- Review and approve architectural plans during schematic, design development, and construction drawing phases.
- Produce presentation memos and vision documents for internal leaders to highlight investment opportunities.
- Manage project budgets and underwriting to ensure that projects attain target investment outcomes.
- Work closely with staff and business leaders across the organization to drive projects from inception to completion.
- Build a strong relationship with the Operations/Property Management team to ensure that projects have internal support and do not adversely impact current Gorman residents.
- Build a strong relationship with the Construction team to ensure successful pre-construction planning and construction completion of complex projects.
- Partner with Gorman's Finance team to create and maintain detailed financial models and reports.
- Overall responsibility for all projects from start to finish.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Eight to ten years of experience with multi-family and/or hospitality design.
- Five years of experience leading and managing a design team.
- Architectural registration and NCARB certificate preferred.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is required.
- Able to prioritize effectively, remain committed to deadlines, and support a team attitude.
