Energy Efficiency Specialist
This is a 3-year, full-time (40 hours/week), field-based contract role with a primary location in Indianapolis, IN. Secondary locations may include Terre Haute or Bloomington, IN.
Summary
This role serves as the main liaison between residential contractors and a regional energy incentive program. You'll be responsible for territory management, relationship building, and quality assurance to support energy efficiency goals and promote home performance improvements that benefit residential customers.
Our Ideal Candidate
3-5 years of experience in B2B sales, residential energy efficiency, HVAC, or home performance
Passion for energy efficiency, sustainability, and improving residential living conditions
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiar with home diagnostic tools and HVAC system analysis
Skilled in collaborating with contractors, manufacturers, and distributors
Able to work independently, manage a field territory, and travel frequently
Flexible and adaptable to different site conditions and customer environments
Strong written and verbal communication with excellent customer service skills
Must be physically capable of climbing ladders and lifting up to 25 lbs
Bonus: BPI Building Analyst, RESNET, or equivalent home performance certification
Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing relationships with contractors, vendors, and energy efficiency program participants.
You'll partner with residential trade allies to drive participation in incentive programs, monitor compliance, and identify opportunities for business growth. This includes:
Acting as a primary contact for trade allies and stakeholders in your assigned territory
Recruiting and training contractors on program requirements and expectations
Managing contractor performance using metrics such as participation, customer service, and quality
Conducting on-site QA inspections to ensure proper implementation of energy efficiency measures
Addressing inquiries and concerns from contractors or customers
Supporting the development and delivery of communications to promote program awareness and updates
You will also represent the program during on-site visits and events, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards, while supporting energy-saving initiatives that improve household comfort, health, and performance.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
Background in sales, energy efficiency, HVAC, or territory management
Certifications such as BPI Building Analyst or RESNET preferred
Experience operating diagnostic tools and conducting HVAC performance assessments
The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $29- $31per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
