Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Senior Application Development Manager
Salary: $113,890 - $170,834 annually, plus bonus opportunity

As a Lead Software Engineer for the Transportation dev team you will provide technical leadership across Transportation by guiding teams, shaping architecture, and improving development practices. You'll lead by example, champion engineering excellence, and help deliver scalable, high-performing solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Architect and lead high-impact technical initiatives that align with business goals and advance the long-term architecture strategy
  • Champion engineering excellence through code quality, development standards, and best practices
  • Mentor and coach engineers to foster growth, collaboration, and innovation
  • Own application performance, define key metrics, and proactively address issues
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and advocate for architectural consistency
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, platform, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver value


YOU MUST HAVE



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field - or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years' experience in software development with a minimum of 5 years in a senior level role
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives or taking ownership of architectural decisions, regardless of title
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture, secure coding, and CI/CD practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach team members
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead by influence
  • Experience coordinating with infrastructure, security, platform, or architecture teams


YOU MAY ALSO HAVE



  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement in software development
  • Technical depth across multiple applications in a transportation environment
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment
  • Experience working with Azure, .NET, and C#
  • Experience working with the warehouse, food distribution, or transportation industries


ROLE SPECIFICS



  • Travel - Occasional overnight travel for conferences, internal trainings and meetings. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train
  • Schedule - after hours on call rotation to support business needs
  • Location Requirement: This is an on-site position located in Mt. Sterling, IL or Chesterfield MO
