About the Role

Springer Nature works with over 1 million peer reviewers to ensure that the content that we publish can be trusted by the academic community. The ReviewerCommunications Manager leads the development and delivery of communication strategies that drive reviewer engagement and strengthen relationships with the research community. They are responsible for crafting clear, consistent, and compelling messaging across all channels, internally and externally, and ensuring that reviewers are informed, supported, and connected to Springer Nature's mission. A key part of the role is designing and communicating training initiatives for reviewers, aligning content and delivery with broader communication goals to create a seamless and engaging reviewer experience.

The role-holder will work closely with teams across the business - including Reviewer Engagement, Editor Engagement, Recruitment, Marketing, Publishing, and the Product & Platform Group - to ensure communications and training are integrated, impactful, and aligned with business priorities. Reviewer satisfaction is a critical success metric for the role, with Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT) forming core KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead multi-channel communication strategies that engage reviewers and support key business goals

  • Manage internal and external communications, including newsletters, outreach campaigns, program updates, and stakeholder messaging

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Reviewer, Editor, and Researcher Engagement, Editorial, Marketing, and Training to ensure aligned, inclusive, and consistent messaging across all reviewer-facing materials

  • Support reviewer training, onboarding, and retention by integrating communication plans, maintaining content calendars, and promoting professional development opportunities

  • Create messaging that fosters community, recognition, and a strong connection between reviewers and the organization

  • Contribute to campaigns targeting early career researchers and underrepresented groups in peer review

  • Monitor and report on communication performance using metrics like open rates, click-throughs, and engagement trends; identify opportunities for improvement based on feedback and data analysis

  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal communications support and timely campaign delivery

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in crafting and executing impactful communication strategies for diverse audiences

  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills-across formats and channels

  • Experience leading multi-channel campaigns and newsletters using editorial calendars and planning tools

  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement, particularly in academic, publishing, or training contexts

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align messaging with organizational goals while maintaining clarity and inclusivity

  • Proficient in CMS, newsletter platforms, and internal communication tools

  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and effective in fast-paced environments

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; communications or training certifications are a plus

US Annualized Base Salary Range: $70,000 - 82,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
