Position Summary:
The
Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) is seeking a detail-oriented,
intellectually curious Survey Research Data Assistant to support its
institutional research and survey analytics portfolio. Reporting directly to
the Associate Director of Survey Research and Information, the assistant will
receive hands-on training in the end-to-end survey research cycle, including
survey design, statistical analysis, report development, dashboard creation,
and data visualization.

The
assistant will also contribute to strategic institutional initiatives,
including drafting conference proposals, developing academic publications, and
supporting grant submissions. Daily responsibilities may include designing and
testing institution-wide surveys, analyzing student and faculty survey data,
developing interactive dashboards in Power BI, and creating research posters
and infographics.

This is
an hourly internship role, compensated at $25/hour, with an expected workload
of approximately 21-28 hours per week.

Essential Functions:
-Design and pilot
institutional survey instruments.
-Clean, manage, and analyze
large-scale survey datasets.
-Generate statistical reports
and research briefs.
-Develop interactive
visualizations and dashboards using Power BI.
-Prepare materials for grant
proposals, academic publications, and conference submissions.
-Assist in maintaining organizational
charts and institutional data repositories.
-Support content creation and
updates on Drupal-based web platforms.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Power BI.
-Experience handling confidential or sensitive data.
-Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional setting.
-Working knowledge of Drupal.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with Python, SQL,
SPSS (syntax), STATA (syntax), and/or survey platforms.
-Familiarity with Canva or
similar graphic design tools and visualization knowledge.
-Master's
degree or graduate-level coursework in data science, statistics,
education, public policy, or a related field Interest in higher education, institutional
research, or data-informed decision-making.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate for this position is $25.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
