Practice Group Marketing Specialist (Sponsorships)
Cooley is seeking a Practice Group Marketing Specialist (Sponsorships) to join the Marketing team. Position summary: Under the supervision of the Practice Group Marketing Manager, the Practice Group Marketing Specialist (Sponsorships) will work closely with firm attorneys and other marketing team members to support all business development and marketing activities for the practice(s) within the Business (Corporate) Department. The primary goal is to drive revenue and brand through new business opportunities and client expansion programs, including pitches, events, and sponsorships. This position is responsible for working with attorneys to respond to marketing requests in a manner consistent with the firm's overall strategy. Work is defined by the goals, objectives and policies of the department and the practices. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Position responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Practice Group Manager, Director of Marketing-Business Department, and other team members, develop and support marketing and business development plans to address the goals and initiatives within the practice group's Business Plan
- Lead programs, events, sponsorships, etc., to drive revenue and promote Cooley's brand
- Guide marketing strategies/tactics and serve as liaison between practice group and other marketing functions
- Coordinate and leverage practice group marketing activities with adjacent business development efforts across the firm
- Create pitch decks and track ROI
- Collaborate with marketing managers and partners to formulate and implement policies and procedures for business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client presentations, sales pipeline management and market development
- Conduct business research and relationship searches
- Coordinate business development training sessions
- Coordinate cross-selling pods
- Serve as point of contact for business development/sales support for attorneys in practice group
- Provide input and recommendations on marketing programs and budget spend as related to the business (corporate) department
- Track ROI for budget items as well as ensuring that budget spend is monitored and reported on
- Identify, support and manage networking, speaking, conference and event sponsorship opportunities aligned with practice business plans
- Serve as a relationship liaison with key business/industry/trade/partnership organizations
- Collaborate with the communications and creative services teams to facilitate internal and external communications projects, including identifying media opportunities and owning the production, execution and readership analysis for the practice thought leadership activities
- Work with marketing team members (including our in-house events team) to execute in-person and virtual hosted events, client receptions and alumni programs
- Play an integral role in the facilitation and planning of industry vertical signature events
- Facilitate sponsorship execution and maximize ROI on involvement
- Drive, manage, track and evaluate the ROI on various programming initiatives
- Champion firm branding and related standards on creative services projects
- Coordinate promotional items for marketing events with the core teams
- Serve as subject matter expert in the relevant industry and service lines, including building a deep understanding of core clients, core targets (including target client profile) and client buying patterns
- Develop and maintain marketing materials and collateral (descriptions, engagement lists, client lists, awards, etc.)
- Steer data using the appropriate firm technologies and services, including external research databases (CRM (Salesforce), SCORE, Intranet, Library Services, Pitchbook, Capital IQ, IP OVitalSigns, Deal Point Data, etc.)
- Lead deal tracking and reporting efforts for the practice
- Support lateral attorney orientation and onboarding
- Role model the use of the CRM tool (Salesforce) in managing sponsorships and events
- Curate quarterly newsletters and deal sheets
- Serve as a resource on the budget including tracking key deadlines for commitments, ensuring invoices are processed timely, tracking spend and budget reporting, and tracking ROI
- Create the metrics reporting to Marketing Department leadership through Wins and Wows and other reports
- All other duties as assigned or required
Skills and experience: Required:
- After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
- Following training, exhibit proficiency in Firm marketing systems software (e.g., CRM tool (Salesforce) proficiency, WordPress, SCORE database)
- Available to work overtime, as required
- 3+ years direct applicable experience in a marketing-related field
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in either business, communication, marketing, or related field
- Business development experience or sales experience
- Experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with a working knowledge of professional services industries
- Project management experience and direct experience in creating and monitoring sales and business plans, goal tracking and sales pipeline management

Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE. The expected hourly pay range for this position with a work schedule of 40 hours per week is $42.00 - $56.50 ($87,360 - $117,520 annually). Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
