Job Overview

The Scientist Lab Medicine I may be responsible for the performance of activities for new assay development, supportive of research and development at the technical level, and/or for clinical workflow development and data analysis and interpretation. This position supports clinical research and assists in the training of technical staff on new assays. It also supports teaching and training activities for team members, students, colleagues, and medical staff.

Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Duties & Responsibilities

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Performs activities for new assay development, ensuring that assays are developed according to good laboratory practice, consistent with regulatory requirements and DPLM policies and procedures.
2. Is attentive to the technical needs for clinical testing and expresses concerns to lab leadership as they arise, participating in troubleshooting when needed.
3. Makes recommendations to improve testing efficiency, controlling costs of reagents, supplies and tech time at the technical level in the lab.
4. Analyzes laboratory-generated data and participates in interpretation and clinical report generation when expertise allows.
5. Supports continuous quality improvement and staff engagement.
6. Supports clinical research protocols and potential industry sponsored clinical studies.
7. Supports teaching and training efforts for employees, students, team members and colleagues when requested. Assists in the training of technical staff during and after implementation of new assays.
8. Presents scientific and educational posters/presentations to technical staff and colleagues, and at relevant professional meetings.
9. Supports strong ongoing technical relationships with clients and vendors.
10. Supports strategic efforts by maintaining awareness of business trends and collaborates with potential partners to enhance revenue.
11. Supports the implementation of an annual strategic plan.
12. Is knowledgeable of and supports compliance against federal, state, and local regulations for functional area(s).

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION - Master's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or directly related science.

EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years of experience in directly related field.

EQUIVALENCY - Bachelor's degree in directly related science with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in directly related field.

2 years LC-MSMS experience preferred

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $90,900.58 to $136,350.88
