Scope of Work:

The Diagnostic and Test Measuring Equipment (TMDE) Technician III is responsible for performing advanced-level calibration, diagnostics, and repair of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical test equipment used to support Navy operations. This position ensures that all TMDE is maintained within required tolerances and fully complies with Navy and DoD calibration standards. The Technician III will also provide technical leadership and training to junior technicians and support compliance with all safety, quality, and technical directives.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex calibrations and repairs on TMDE such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other precision measurement devices.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and repair faults in test equipment.
  • Utilize calibration software, procedures, and industry best practices to ensure traceability to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
  • Conduct functional checks and final verifications to ensure equipment meets all performance specifications.
  • Document all work performed using detailed maintenance logs and reporting tools.
  • Mentor and assist junior technicians, providing training and guidance as required.
  • Participate in quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and secure work environment, adhering to all applicable safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with government personnel, engineers, and program managers to support mission readiness and equipment availability.
  • This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate's degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in the calibration and repair of test, diagnostic, and measurement equipment.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a Navy or DoD TMDE calibration lab is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of metrology principles and calibration standards.
  • Strong diagnostic skills in troubleshooting complex electronic systems.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of test and calibration equipment.
  • Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and electronic documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a fully adjudicated Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain an interim Secret Clearance prior to start.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
