Job Summary:



The College of Nursing, Office of Admissions and Student Affairs Team has a full-time opening for a Student Services Manager. The Student Engagement Manager (SEM) coordinates events such as graduation, new-student orientations, and other celebratory and cultural events for the college. The SEM also supports our student body by engaging with them via the Weekly Student Newsletter, serving as primary contact and advisor for student organizations within the college, and providing career services support to current and former students. This program also monitors and reports on the student experiences by hosting and supporting the student town hall events

The goal of the Student Engagement Manager is to educate, celebrate, and support our students from the time of acceptance through graduation. This position requires the ability to work with a high degree of independence, utilizing best practices and data to influence decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

New Student Onboarding (20%)



  • Responsible for the new student experience from the point of system matriculation through the first week of classes.
  • Develop and monitor the new student email campaigns.
  • Liaise with key constituents to create shared onboarding programming objectives and goals.
  • Organize and execute multiple new student orientations throughout the year by developing the orientation schedule, activities, coordinating external speakers, venue, catering, communications, and participants.
  • Develop and monitor the online orientation process via Canvas for incoming students and current students. Develop and monitor GroupMe accounts. Serve as the primary responder for any post that violates CU standards or creates student safety concerns.
  • Manage the issuance and delivery of badges for new and current students.
  • Assess new student orientation programming and collaborate with stakeholders to develop programming that increases retention and achieves established learning objectives.
  • Utilize systems to enhance process efficiency and data collection


Graduation (20%)



  • Serve as the lead coordinator for the multiple College of Nursing graduation celebrations throughout the year. Ensure all event planning and logistics are completed promptly for successful ceremonies.
  • Serve as the primary CU Nursing liaison for university commencement and convocation ceremonies.
  • Organize staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Ensure faculty and student awards are awarded following standard procedures.
  • Inform key constituents, including faculty, staff, and students, of graduation dates and logistics in a timely fashion.
  • Manage contact lists and all communication to students and stakeholders regarding graduation and commencement activities.


Student Engagement (18%)



  • Coordinate student events, including executing contracts, arranging catering, organizing volunteers, and generating presentations. Conduct regular debriefs and provide data-driven assessment of all activities.
  • Oversee the heritage month planning committees and coordinate events to ensure tradition continues and culture of belonging within the College of Nursing.
  • Manage regular student communications through various mediums to provide guidance and support in areas related to academics, career, and experiential education.
  • Update general processes within the Admissions and Student Affairs Team; Suggest process improvements as needed related to specific programs; Manage projects related to process improvement efforts assigned by the Director of Admissions and Student Affairs.
  • Recommends, develops, and implements initiatives for student leadership, engagement, and learning.
  • Manage projects related to process improvement efforts assigned by the Director of Admissions and Student Affairs.
  • Manage the development and distribution of the student newsletter.
  • Maintain the Student Life Website.
  • Represents CU Nursing at the CU Student Affairs Programmers meetings.


Student Organization Support (15%)



  • Serves as the primary advisor for the CU Nursing Student Council.
  • Review accounts (speedtypes) for recognized CU Nursing Student organizations, ensuring budget to actual and course-correcting as necessary, partnering with CU Nursing Finance on involved issues, and coordinating procurement processes.
  • Attend student organization meetings as needed, providing advice on resources and protocols.
  • Organize regular check-in meetings with student organization leaders and advisors to provide support and counsel.
  • Meets with student leaders regularly to discuss student leadership development, personal and academic growth, and organizational direction.
  • Serve as the primary contact for CU Nursing student organization advisors.
  • Administers and ensures proper financial processes are followed for all departmental student leadership organizations. Adheres to all purchasing rules established by CU regarding student organization spending.


Student Career Services (10%)



  • Create, implement, and regularly evaluate the career-services plan for the college. Submit regular reports on progress and challenges to the Director of Admissions and Student Affairs.
  • Deliver relevant and engaging presentations and workshops on career development, specifically job search skills (e.g., resumes, cover letters, networking, interviewing skills, etc.).
  • Coordinate and execute events and programs that facilitate connections between students and employers (e.g., networking events, Mock Interview Day, etc.).


Supervision (10%)



  • Supervises Student Affairs Assistant (Administrative Assistant III), which includes role onboarding, providing coaching, completing annual evaluations, and preparing and managing performance plans in collaboration with the Director of Admissions and Student Affairs.
  • Develops and communicates priorities for individual staff members that increase efficiency and support the office/school mission.


Fiscal (5%)



  • Forecasts and manages the student engagement budget. Ensure expenses are accurately monitored and adhere to CU standards. Make recommendations for annual budget consideration.
  • Makes decisions about appropriate use of speed types and funds with an understanding of the complex financial reporting system.
  • Create and execute contracts as needed per university policy and standards. Ensure contracts are executed promptly to ensure events and services are provided without any disruption.
  • Organize the scholarship award process, including creating and distributing the applications, soliciting volunteer reviewers, collecting application reviews, managing the score process, and notifying students of selected awards.
  • Assist the Office of Advancement with scholarship information requests and award requirements related to CON scholarships.


Academic Services Support (2%)



  • Responsible for Student Affairs Committee (SAC) administrative support, including meeting agenda, minutes, meeting schedule, and calendaring.
  • Serve as the backup for SAC grade appeals and handbook edits.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • A bachelor's degree in education, communication, social science, women and gender studies, psychology, computer science, information systems, business, health sciences, physical sciences, public administration, business administration, higher education, counseling, hospitality, liberal arts, finance, accounting, human services, student affairs.
  • Four years of professional-level experience with large-scale event planning, coordinating programs, business operations, and/or academic/student services.


Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • A master's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, or a directly related field from an accredited institution may substitute for an unrelated bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with large-scale event planning and coordination in a post-secondary education setting.
  • Finance/budgetary experience, such as travel and expense reconciliation, budget tracking, and/or complex report creation.
  • Experience maintaining compliance with laws, regulations, and/or contracts
  • Experience working on an academic medical campus

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $64,464 to $68,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
