The University of Iowa Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics is seeking a candidate for a temporary position as an Assistant Research Scientist. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct highly technical and specialized scientific research. The position will involve H&E staining of slides from tissues, conducting non-surgical procedures including -In Vivo Torque Measurement of mouse muscle, whole body Plethysmography, conducting mouse activity monitoring of mice, and processing biopsies from mouse muscle for analysis using confocal microscope and scanning microscope.

The position requires the academic knowledge of a discipline generally associated with a Doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology.

Experience with confocal and scanning microscope with mouse muscle samples is required. Required technical experience also includes executing non-surgical procedures such as of -In Vivo Torque Measurement of mouse muscle, whole body Plethysmography of mice, mouse activity monitoring. Experience in processing biopsies from mouse muscle for H&E staining and immune staining and analysis using confocal and scanning microscopy is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
