Job Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of mechanical equipment and systems used in chemical manufacturing operations. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and operational efficiency.

  • Install, repair, and maintain various types of pumps, including diaphragm, centrifugal, and positive displacement pumps.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with production and utility equipment as needed.

  • Fabricate, modify, and assemble equipment components based on operational requirements or engineering specifications.

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure optimal equipment performance and uptime.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot facility utilities and process equipment (e.g., compressors, chillers, boilers, HVAC systems).

  • Perform general welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and oxy-acetylene welding, to support fabrication and repairs.

  • Set up and operate machine tools such as grinders, drills, and milling machines to fabricate or recondition machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete eMaint (or other CMMS) work orders accurately and efficiently.

  • Monitor equipment operation, identifying abnormal sounds or performance to proactively detect malfunctions.

  • Collaborate with team members to identify and reduce recurring issues through continuous improvement efforts.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA, environmental, and plant safety standards.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. Technical training or certifications in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or related fields preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable industrial maintenance experience, preferably within a chemical, petrochemical, or process manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with proven ability to identify and resolve equipment issues efficiently.

  • Must be available for on-call rotation or as needed to support plant operations.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly document maintenance activities and interact professionally with team members and supervisors.

  • Proficient in basic mathematics, including measurements, unit conversions, and calculations necessary for equipment installation and repair.

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the facility and maintain a dependable method of communication (e.g., cell phone) for call-outs and emergency contact.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and communicate equipment or operational issues to management in a timely and proactive manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve maintenance and production goals.
