Albemarle is seeking an Equipment Inspector I position to work onsite at the Magnolia location. Accountabilities
- Ensure that all pressure vessel repairs and piping fabrication comply with applicable Albemarle specifications and Code requirements.
- Ensure consistent internal and external mechanical integrity inspections take place and are reported in a timely fashion.
- Ability to make repair/replacement recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Understands the importance of Health, Safety and Environment issues to the success of our organization, and acts as a safety champion for all inspection activities.
- Maintain knowledge of nondestructive testing techniques applicable to inspection of plant equipment.
- Consult with Project and/or Maintenance Engineering for fabrication of new equipment and repair/modification of existing equipment.
- Provide direct and indirect support (coverage, planning, evaluation) for major turnarounds.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledgeable and well-versed ASME, ASTM, AWS, and API Codes and specifications.
- American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) NDT Level II certification for PT, UT (Thickness) VT, MT, and BLT required, or ability to obtain.
- Confined-Space trained and capable, or ability to obtain.
- Familiarity with plant equipment maintenance inspections.
- Familiarity with ASME Section VIII - relief valves and testing requirements.
- Computer literate.
- Spoken and written English is a requirement.
Desired Qualifications
- 10 years in industrial inspection and quality assurance.
- One or more of the following certifications - National Board of Inspection Code (NBIC) Commissioned Inspector. API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector. AWS Certified Welding Inspector. API 570 Piping Inspector. API 653 Tank Inspector.
- Experience with SAP reporting systems.
- Familiarity and experience with pressure vessel design software and ASME VIII - 1 Code calculations
- Familiarity and experience with API RP-579 / ASME FFS-1 Fitness for Service assessments
- Past experience in Fabrication shops.
- Familiarity with following Materials of Construction: lead lined steel, glass lined steel, exotic alloys (e.g. - titanium, tantalum, high nickel alloys, etc.), ceramics, fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP), and plastic lined pipe and equipment.
