We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outside Sales Representative to expand our Specialty Gas business within a specific territory. This is a strategic, market-facing sales role focused on acquiring new clients and growing existing accounts in various high-potential industries. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the sales process, excel at solution selling, and thrive in fast-paced, competitive environments. The Specialty Gas Specialist is responsible for achieving business and sales goals for Specialty Gas Products within their assigned geographic area. This role focuses on driving market growth through direct sales efforts and collaborative work with area account managers.

Target Annual Salary: $70,000- $85,000 with a 20% commission bonus plan and car allowance. (Base + Bonus is $87,500 - $106,250)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and penetrate growth markets such as:

    • Life Sciences - pharmaceutical, biotech, clinical labs, environmental testing

    • Energy and Chemical - oil & gas, renewable energy, refineries, petrochemical

    • Industrial Manufacturing - semiconductors, electronics, metal fabrication

    • Research & Academic Labs - universities, government agencies, R&D centers

    • Food & Beverage - food processing, cold chain, packaging operations

  • Develop and execute a territory-specific sales strategy that targets high-value accounts and aligns with regional growth initiatives.

  • Own the full sales cycle: lead generation, consultative selling, proposal development, deal closing, and post-sale engagement.

  • Grow Specialty Gas and hardgoods revenue by onboarding new customers while identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing relationships.

  • Collaborate with Account Managers, District Managers, and product specialists to maximize sales penetration and customer satisfaction.

  • Stay ahead of competitors by actively tracking industry trends, customer needs, and market activity.

  • Leverage marketing collateral, digital tools, and CRM data to support sales efforts and meet activity targets.

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, forecasts, and customer interactions by utilizing Salesforce.

Requirements:

  • Requires a seasoned sales professional with at least 5 years of outside sales success, preferably in industrial, life sciences, or technical markets.

  • Five years of directly related sales experience selling industrial, medical, or specialty gases in the gas industry may be considered in lieu of outside sales experience.

  • Proven experience using a solution-selling approach to deliver customer-specific value propositions.

  • Skilled in navigating complex buying processes, influencing multiple stakeholders, and closing deals with long sales cycles.

  • Adept at qualifying leads, prioritizing accounts, and managing time across a large geography.

  • Comfortable selling into both large enterprise accounts and mid-sized organizations across diverse verticals.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with specialty, medical, industrial or food-grade gases and their applications.

  • Experience working with technical buyers such as lab managers, engineers, operations leaders, or procurement teams.

  • Working knowledge of CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, chemistry, biology, food science, engineering, or a related field preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • High proficiency in digital tools and platforms (Google Workspace, CRM, etc.).

  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and insurance per state requirements.
