Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The University of Minnesota Medical School (UMN) and MPhysicians is conducting a search for an experienced physician/scientist focusing on sleep medicine and memory diseases in the Neurology Department at the University of Minnesota. Protected time for research is available based on interests and qualifications in a tenured position. The ideal candidate for this leadership role is a physician/scientist with proven program-building expertise and current R01 funding or has shown the ability in the recent past to receive NIH funding.

The clinical component of this position will have primarily outpatient duties at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview and affiliated clinics. The practice will focus on the clinical evaluation and management of neurological based sleep disorders including: narcolepsy, parasomnias, restless legs syndrome as well as general sleep medicine patients. The center is affiliated with an ACGME training programs in: Sleep Medicine, Neurology, Pulmonary/Critical Care, and Internal Medicine. The expected attending call is up to 4 weeks per year staffing the general neurology inpatient service and take outpatient night call 1 to 2 weeks per year.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will be medical doctors (MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent) with ABPN board certification in Neurology and Sleep Medicine. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Minnesota and demonstrate the requisite clinical and research expertise in the field of neuroscience as required for the academic rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor (DOQ), Department of Neurology, University of Minnesota Medical School.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $55,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
