Overview

Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for the position of Director of Enterprise Consulting. Primary Function: Lead a strategic internal consulting function that partners with executives and business leaders to assess business challenges and functional areas, design solutions, and prepare high-impact projects for intake into execution pipelines. This role focuses on framing initiatives-through structured assessments and diagnostic engagements-and plays a critical role in ensuring enterprise initiatives are properly scoped with detailed requirements, aligned with the credit union's strategic priorities, and produce commensurate value. Oversee the continuous improvement function and management of external consulting firms, ensuring value, fit, and fiscal responsibility.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as a thought partner to executives and business leaders to assess strategic opportunities, performance challenges, and operational gaps.
  • Facilitate structured consulting engagements, cross-functional workshops, assessments, and interviews that produce clear insights, root causes, and actionable recommendations to support value realization.
  • Develop standardized approaches, toolkits, and frameworks for internal consulting engagements that include high-quality deliverables such as business cases, current/future state assessments, and detailed scope/requirement documentation in support of project intake.
  • Communicate consulting findings and recommendations in clear, concise, and persuasive formats tailored to diverse audiences including executives and board committees.
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategy Office, Transformation Office, and PMO to ensure all proposed initiatives meet readiness criteria.
  • Partner with executive sponsors and functional leaders to shape initiatives before they enter project execution or transformation pipelines.
  • Define and institutionalize standards for RFP's, pre-project assessments and scope development.
  • Lead a continuous improvement program leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and human-centered design.
  • Promote innovation and ideation methodologies to uncover new solutions to member and employee pain points.
  • Support capability building across the organization in areas such as change management, process optimization, and strategic analysis.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor teams of internal or external consultants, business analysts, and process improvement professionals either directly or indirectly.
  • Foster a high-performance, service-oriented team culture that emphasizes client engagement, problem structuring, facilitation, collaboration, and measurable impact.
  • Maintain relationships with vetted roster of external consulting partners for specialized needs or surge capacity.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executives and business leaders on when and how to leverage external consulting firms.
  • Oversee the consulting budget, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities, value-for-money, and responsible stewardship of funds.
  • Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Responsible for regular and predictable attendance including punctuality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, consulting, or related field or at least 2 years equivalent experience for each undergraduate year not completed; undergraduate degree cannot substitute for minimum number of years of experience required.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in management consulting, enterprise advisory roles, or project management leadership; strong preference for experience within financial services or regulated industries.

  • Experience managing vendor relationships, negotiating consulting engagements, and overseeing professional services budgets.

  • Certified Management Consultant (CMC) preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or equivalent) preferred.

  • Prosci or similar change management certification preferred.

  • PMP or PrMP (for alignment with PMO processes) preferred.
