General Summary of Job Responsibilities
This Director role will have responsibility for the company's GIS (Geospatial Information System) platforms. They will create functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub function and develops budgets, policies & procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall IT departmental function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees a portfolio/sub-function of IT infrastructure, applications and/or services typically through the entire lifecycle
- Drives digital transformation by removing traditional barriers to change (e.g., outdated organizational structures, complex departmental processes, current thinking and traditional mindsets)
- Inspires the organization to reform internal practices to be able to harness new technology opportunities quickly and effectively
- Influences strategic partners to support building digital dexterity as an enterprise-wide capability
- Provide thought leadership to leaders on incorporating digital trends and understands the implications for their business
- Knows how to leverage new technologies and take effective action quickly
- Maintains awareness of and insight into enterprise-wide digital strategies
- Champions our digital strategy within the enterprise and with external stakeholders
- Possesses systems thinking to understand the internal and external relationships between technology and processes
- Influences business partners to leverage digital to achieve business outcomes and process optimization
- Builds roadmaps in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Administration and ownership of cost of service for the portfolio/sub-function and how it impacts the departmental budget and company finances
- Fosters a culture of cost optimization and waste elimination across the portfolio/sub-function
- Other duties as assigned or may be necessary

Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, GIS, Geospatial Engineering or Data Analytics with ten (10) or more years of experience leading people and other leaders in a technical environment as well as experience leading projects and/or cross-functional teams. Experience designing, deploying, operating and/or maintaining IT systems that have delivered measurable business benefits OR experience designing, delivering and enhancing IT services that support the delivery of IT systems.
- [OR] Associate's Degree inInformation Technology, Computer Engineering, GIS, Geospatial Engineering or Data Analytics with twelve (12) or more years of experience leading people and other leaders in a technical environment as well as experience leading projects and/or cross-functional teams. Experience designing, deploying, operating and/or maintaining IT systems that have delivered measurable business benefits OR experience designing, delivering and enhancing IT services that support the delivery of IT systems.
- [OR] High School Diploma/GED with fourteen (14) or more years of experience leading people and other leaders in a technical environment as well as experience leading projects and/or cross-functional teams. Experience designing, deploying, operating and/or maintaining IT systems that have delivered measurable business benefits OR experience designing, delivering and enhancing IT services that support the delivery of IT systems.
Preferred Experience
- The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience leading a GIS team or have been in a senior technical GIS role
- Experience with migrations to the "Utility Network" model and experience leading Product Teams using Agile methods of Software Development are preferred
