POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Information Management, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an opportunity for a Programmer/Videographer in San Diego, CA. The position is onboard Naval Information Warfare Command Pacific (NIWCPAC) to provide support to numerous media efforts. These are in support of internal research documentation and external media relations for various internal command functions as well as related endeavors for the Naval Warfare Command (NAVWAR) Public Affairs Office (PAO). Office is located at Naval Base Point Loma Old Town Complex with video shoots occurring at a multitude of Naval facilities across San Diego as well as projects worldwide.



  • Development of a variety of multimedia products including short and long form documentary; photographic capture of events, portraits, and technical subject matter; graphics and print layouts; and other audiovisual needs as they may arise.
  • Required to use professional video equipment to setup and complete shoots (solo or in a team) in the field or in studio, particularly the Canon C100 and C70, Sony A7R series mirrorless cameras, shotgun and lavalier microphones, Aputure lights and modifiers, Edelkrone slider, and all related grip equipment.
  • Professional-level experience with Adobe Photoshop required; working knowledge of Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects or other 3D graphics software preferred.
  • General knowledge of engineering and scientific concepts preferred; media products often concern cutting-edge research efforts and will require the ability to frame advanced concepts for audiences of varying technicality.
  • Extensive knowledge of shooting quality video: proper lighting techniques, multicamera interview setups, capturing multichannel audio, on-set troubleshooting, and more.
  • Create and maintain organizational flow to ensure the successful and timely completion of overlapping productions.


Payrate: $45.67 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. or B.A. film, advertising, marketing, communications, or media is required and/or four years of equivalent experience, particularly in news media or film production industry.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy camera equipment and infrequently work in difficult terrain, at heights, in cramped shipboard environments, and other austere locations.
  • Include link to a reel including 3-5 video productions of varying subject matter, length, and complexity. Include details of your role in the production (i.e. camera op, grip, DoP, director, etc)
  • Strong script writing, editing, proofreading, producing, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present highly technical concepts visually and verbally.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship status required.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or be able to obtain or reestablish this level of clearance.
