  • Estimated hourly base pay:$28.19 (minimum) - $35.24 (midpoint) - $42.29 (maximum)

The CMM Programmer is responsible for the operation, inspection and programming of the CMM machine, the analysis and interpretation of blueprints, manuals and other materials to determine specifications, to inspect and test procedures, and to communicate technical information to others, in an industrial setting. This position includes supplier involvement, technology involvement, and early PLC involvement.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Operate CMM machines and perform advanced programming and operation of specialized inspection equipment such as Talyrond, Nikon vision system, and CMMs. Maintain work instructions for the setup and inspection of parts and consult suppliers on effective methods for writing CMM programs for new product introduction.
  • Inspect manufactured components and perform first article inspections based on work order instructions. Collect and analyze inspection data, make necessary computations to determine results, and recommend corrective actions by discussing findings with relevant personnel.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, routings, evaluation sheets, manuals, and other technical materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Clean, maintain, repair, and calibrate measuring instruments and test equipment. Work closely with engineers and suppliers to define and implement inspection methods for new products during development.
  • Train and mentor team members and suppliers on best practices related to inspection procedures, techniques, and tool usage. Participate in NPI PFMEA activities to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Stay informed about technological advancements and breakthroughs in the Metrology industry by attending trade shows and researching emerging trends. Communicate new measurement techniques or products that can improve the company's ability to evaluate product quality.
  • Support Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) activities for new product introduction by visiting suppliers and consulting on inspection methods and technologies.
  • Communicate project status, updates, specific instructions, and inspection findings to stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals and actions.

What We Are Looking For

  • High school diploma required, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in CMM operations and Metrology. Completion of a programming class in PC-DMIS is mandatory.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles and their application to inspection processes, with the ability to facilitate communication between teams to better serve customer needs.
  • Expertise in CMM setup, programming, controls, and conducting Gage R&R studies.
  • Proficiency in using computer and web-based systems to manage information.
  • Familiarity with non-conformance procedures, including logging, tracking, and documenting failed inspections.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex material to diverse audiences, including suppliers.
  • Ability to define, diagnose, and resolve problems effectively.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles for continual improvement (desired).
  • Attention to detail and strong hand-eye coordination to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Awareness of technological advancements and breakthroughs in Metrology.

Physical Demand: Moderate physical activity requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or bending; and lifting or moving objects. Work is performed in an area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require special safety precautions, such as wearing protective clothing or gear. May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.
