JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Altoona invites candidates for the job of part-time Head Men's Soccer Coach. Reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the management of all aspects of the Men's Soccer program.

Duties include, but will not be limited to:

  • Game coaching
  • Recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student athletes
  • Competition season scheduling
  • Planning and implementing practice sessions
  • Coordination of scouting and film sessions
  • Team travel
  • Fundraising projects supporting student-athletes wellness
  • Supervision of assistant coaches

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Ability to physically demonstrate complex movements and skills on the pitch required
  • Candidates must have demonstrated success in a soccer program at college, high school or an equivalently high club level, including evidence of successful student retention and team success
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate and develop student-athletes knowledge of the sport and a verifiable ability to teach both fundamentals and strategies of the game is necessary
  • This person must possess a working knowledge of NCAA rules, a commitment to high academic standards, and the NCAA Division III philosophy
  • A successful candidate will have a reputation for integrity

Penn State Altoona is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).

Qualification typically requires a bachelor's degree and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
