Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library is seeking a strategic, enthusiastic, and collaborative professional to serve as the Assistant Division Manager of Branch Services. This newly created position will be essential to the effective oversight and support of LCPL's ten branch libraries and will play a critical role in advancing library services that meet the evolving needs of our community.

Reporting directly to the Division Manager of Branch Services, the Assistant Division Manager will support day-to-day operations across all locations, with a focus on facilities coordination, budgeting, safety, compliance, and staff development. This position will also contribute to systemwide initiatives and help maintain high standards of customer service and equitable access throughout the County.

The ideal candidate should be a collaborative leader with strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills-and a passion for delivering high-quality public service and making a measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Assistance

  • Serve as a key resource for branch managers and staff, providing guidance on daily operational matters as needed
  • Support day-to-day systemwide branch operations and ensure timely follow-up on service-related issues
  • Monitor and promote compliance with all LCPL and County policies, procedures, and operational standards
Facilities Oversight
  • Maintain safe, welcoming, and well-functioning library facilities
  • Collaborate with county departments and vendors on maintenance and improvement projects
Staff Supervision and Development
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for assigned staff
  • Assist in onboarding and supporting branch managers and supervisors
  • Foster professional growth and consistency in service expectations across locations
Customer Service and Quality Assurance
  • Monitor customer feedback and support service excellence initiatives
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance customer service
Budgeting and Resource Management
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the Branch Services budget
  • Track expenditures, manage resources efficiently, and support procurement and reporting
Strategic Leadership
  • Help set operational goals and priorities for Branch Services
  • Align efforts with LCPL's strategic direction and community service objectives
Community Outreach and Representation
  • Represent Branch Services in internal workgroups, community partnerships, and interagency collaborations
  • Promote library services and build relationships that enhance branch visibility and impact
Special Projects
  • Lead or support systemwide projects and initiatives
  • Coordinate planning, implementation, and communication to ensure successful outcomes for special projects
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years of related work experience to include 1 year of supervisory experience or team lead experience.

Previous experience in a library setting is preferred. Prefer previous experience managing multiple work sites and experience overseeing facilities projects/building enhancements. A master's degree in library science is preferred.
