Team Overview:

Our Government, Education and Non-Profit advisory practice at JLL is dedicated to serving all levels of government, universities, colleges, school districts and mission-focused non-profits to develop strategic frameworks, optimize and leverage real estate assets, and create community, economic, academic, scientific, health, and other impact as trusted advisors. As part of JLL's broader Public Institutions group, we work on transformative mandates across the United States, driving value and innovation to our clients. We work as part of a dynamic team, with JLL professionals from across the firm, to benefit our clients' diverse and purpose-driven real estate needs.

Position Overview:

As an Associate on the team, you will play a pivotal role in connecting with current and potential clients and helping to lead the delivery of our advisory & consulting services. You will play an instrumental role connecting subject matter expertise across many professionals internal and external to our team, supporting business development efforts, and directly delivering exceptional advisory services to our clients.

This position will be focused, but not limited to, our federal government advisory work and other clients in the wider Washington, DC region.

Key Responsibilities:

Client / technical skills

  • Analyze complex real estate issues, asses portfolios, and determine highest and best use, market values and advise on strategic real estate plans
  • Use valuation methodologies, research, and identify risks, understand key industry dynamics and underwriting metrics, and prepare corresponding financial models to support JLL team members and client outcomes
  • Analyze market data and comparable transactions
  • Conduct detailed economic and demographic research through the use of JLL and third-party information services to due diligence and determine feasibility of real estate strategies
  • Effectively communicate - written and presentation - results of analysis to internal team members and clients
  • Engage and support significant client interaction as an advisor
  • Deliver and demonstrate advanced working knowledge of complex financial modeling and real estate concepts with limited guidance from senior staff. Be able to review and audit financial models prepared by analysts and external parties
  • Act as a project manager on small to medium assignments; lead components of assignments with existing clients
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to support conclusions and recommendations in deliverables
  • Strong and concise writer

Growth / business development

  • Actively develop relationships and new business with existing clients
  • Identify new business opportunities
  • Drive proposal efforts and coordinate with project teams to create proposal content
  • Participate in pitches and interviews as part of securing new business

People

  • Engage in mentoring and training analysts
  • Collaborate and connect with other associates and analysts across the country
  • Engage throughout the firm to make connections across geographies and services

We're seeking:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree focused on Business, Consulting, Finance, eal Estate, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of experience in real estate, consulting and/or financial advisory services
  • An intellectual curiosity and an ability to determine best strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives concurrently and to effectively collaborate with diverse teams
  • Familiarity with industry concepts, practices, and procedures associated with real estate development, finance, and operations, such as net operating income, loan-to-value, debt service coverage and capitalization rates
  • Ability to effectively write and present business cases and results of analysis
  • Outstanding Microsoft Excel skills, proficiency in Microsoft platform software and ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Ability to work as a key member of large and small teams and to work independently and unsupervised
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and organization skills
  • Creativity to solve unique challenges and to develop new methods and analytical techniques
  • Ability to concurrently support multiple clients and assignments with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Experience with federal government clients and other public and education organizations in the Washington DC region

Estimated total compensation for this position:

125,000.00 - 140,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
