*Description*
The Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing and expediting patient referrals to ensure timely access to care. This role supports the coordination of services between patients, providers, and external specialists, while maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities/Essential Functions (other duties as assigned): Promptly answer incoming calls, greet callers, and provide assistance or route calls appropriately. Serve as the primary operator for inbound and outbound calls, ensuring patients are transferred or referred to the correct department. Schedule and reschedule appointments based on referral needs and patient availability. Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information. Pre-screen patients for eligibility in special funded programs and financial assistance. Track and document all referral requests in the EMR or referral tracking system. Follow up on outstanding provider reports and ensure timely receipt of documentation. Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and front desk teams to support patient flow and care coordination. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and organizational policies. *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a referral coordinator/healthcare insurance role. Proficiency in EMR systems - EPIC - and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Familiarity with referral authorization workflows and payer requirements. *Experience Level* Expert Level *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
