Overview

Under general supervision, loads, unloads, and moves materials throughout the shop.



Responsibilities

1. Responsible for following all safety rules and reporting any safety violations to supervisor. When able correct the safety violation immediately.
2. Read job traveler and/or dispatch, follow oral or written instructions to determine what materials or containers need to be transported to their proper location.
3. Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and/or using forklift truck or electric winch.
4. Move materials from storage or work sites to designated area using secure lifting attachment as necessary, and discard any banding, excess cardboard or protective fabric.
5. Attach proper job travelers to materials.
6. Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together.
7. Dispatch and provide all materials where needed.
8. Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
9. Responsible for loading scrap trailers.
10. Load and unload heat treat ovens when requested.
11. Unload Billet.
12. Perform daily preventative maintenance on forklifts.



Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training in material handling procedures; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess, or ability to obtain within a reasonable period of time, a valid forklift operator's license.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work effectively with both hand and power tools and equipment such as computers, forklifts, gauges (Webster and Rockwell) and other measurement type instruments.
Possess basic computer skills to include data entry to move effectively from screen to screen entering and/or retrieving data, to include listings and location of work centers.
Possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities and individuals at various levels both within and outside the organization. Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations, advocating team concept and participative management style.
