Waste Connections has an immediate position available for a Container Repair / Welder located in Brooklyn NY, in this position you will wear a few different hats, but main duties will include welding, fabricating and compactor repair. This is a full-time, long-term position with a great company. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and are a self-motivated, hardworking individual with good communication skills we want to talk to you.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performweldingand electrical repair of trash containers and compactors.
  • Performsandingandpaintingof trash containers.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area incompliancewith Corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs all work in accordance with establishedsafetyprocedures, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Ability to effectively communicateneeded repairs or tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS ANDPHYSICALEFFORT:

  • Extensivephysicalactivity. Requires strenuousphysicalwork;heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects over 50 pounds.
  • Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair containers in the yard. Usually, well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes it is necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basicsafetyprecautions.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass (i.e., testing negative on) a pre-employment drug screening.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Respirator fit test required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience inStickandMIG welding.
  • Experience in PLC's and electrical
  • Fabrication experience aplus!

Pay for this role starts $34-$36: depending on relevant experience

The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, occasional Saturdays as needed.
