Job Description

Position Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, will manage and focus on executing receiving, shipping and exprot compliance initiatives, policies, and programs while developing and maintaining department production goals.

Reporting Relationships:

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor will report to the Production Control Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records both Domestic and International.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.
  • Places items into containers
  • Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
  • Stamps, stencils or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Operates forklift or uses handtruck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Reads shipping order to determine quantity.
  • Performs clerical tasks including input into the computer.
  • Unpacks incoming shipments.
  • Counts articles in shipment.
  • Examines shipments for defects and shortages.
  • Attaches identification data onto article.
  • Compare information on requisitions, invoices and packing lists to material received or issued to verify accuracy of order.
  • Observes loading of conveyance to determine conformance to loading patterns and prevent shifting or damage to materials of products during transit.
  • Verifies materials loaded or unloaded against the bill of lading.
  • Assembles materials.
  • Bolts heavy pieces to bottom of container or skid.
  • Wraps and pads product with excelsior, paper or other packing material.
  • Nails cover on crate.
  • Wraps and tightens meal bands around crate.
  • Repairs broken crates.
  • Counts items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders
  • Moves container to shipping area and moves lumber, paper and other wrapping supplies to crating area
  • Coordinates pick ups and deliveries with customers and logistic companies
  • Manage export shipments in compliance with ITAR requirements
  • Report international shipments to U.S. Customs
  • Available to work weekends as needed and month end Saturdays
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision

Required Skills:

  • Forklift certification
  • Proven ability to supervise and manage a team
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 35 pounds
  • Knowledge of SOX, ITAR, EAR, CBP regulations
  • Computer literate
  • Familiar with logistics and transportation regulations
  • Experience with international shipments a plus
  • Must make business decisions and work well under pressure

Required Experience:

5+ years related experience

Level of Education:

High School diploma/GED

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $70,000.00 to $78,000.00 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency. The U.S. export control regulations define a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), and certain categories of Asylees and Refugees.
