SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

It is the responsibility of the Business Lending Credit Officer to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Business Lending Credit Officer has primary responsibility for the Company's credit approval and review activities to support a centralized approval process for business loans. Ensure that loan decisions adhere to existing policy guidelines that documentation is adequate to ensure security of collateral and that ongoing administration and review is adequate to maintain the commercial loan portfolio's quality and profitability.

  • Primary responsibility for Business Lending Credit approvals
  • Makes timely assessments of credit risk and determines whether loan requests within his/her authority should be approved or if they should be declined if there are questions of policy or excessive risk.
  • Makes recommendations on credit requests that exceed his/her authority.
  • Directs the examination of loan documentation before granting the loan or loan commitment to ensure its adequacy and completeness.
  • Assists Team Members, when volume exceeds capacity, in order to meet all established service level agreements.
  • Advises credit and line personnel on the Company's overall lending policy noting significant trends and recommending policy changes as necessary.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of all Bank, State, Federal, and regulatory policies, with emphasis placed on loan policies and procedures.
  • Assure all confidential information is properly safeguarded in accordance with Bank policies.
  • Accepts Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements

  • Education: BS or Higher in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Experience: Five or more years of banking experience in Commercial credit analysis, commercial loan review or commercial lending.
  • Knowledge: Good interpersonal skills; Good computer skills, including Word and Excel; Excellent communication skills, the ability to communicate and negotiate with all levels.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES

Required annual compliance training, New Employee Orientation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Telecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. Travel may be required to come to meetings as needed.
