Job Description Manages, plans, organizes, and evaluates the daily operations and staff of the Environmental Services department. Acts as a liaison to multiple departments such as: Nursing, Materials Management, Clinical Engineering, and Facilities Management, Food and Nutrition Service, Environmental Services and Telecommunications. Job Responsibility
- Provides leadership to Environmental Services team members, supervisors, and managers by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.
- Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system.
- Oversees the operations managers to ensure the appropriate level of standards regarding supplies, equipment, cleanliness, infection control, waste management, staff support in order to provide optimal patient centered care; supervises, trains, coaches manager(s) Operations through effective verbal and written communications; works in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Coordinates/oversees daily rounds with staff and Nurse Managers to ensure operational goals, standards and patient and staff satisfaction, while identifying issues, understanding operational breakdowns and rectifying problems; oversees and performs daily inspections of the facility and the oversite of all outsourced cleaning contracts at satellite locations; conducts bi-annual clean-ups according to schedule to ensure unit, hospital and regulatory compliancy with standards.
- Develops staffing schedules, monitor core staffing patterns, overtime and benefit time; manages staffing issues judiciously and while organizing staff to maintain sufficient coverage; assigns and coordinates daily work assignments, special projects; provides guidance for decision making regarding completing operational priorities; regularly inspects and evaluates physical condition of facility, reporting unsafe or substandard conditions; ensures all work orders are followed to resolution and communicating progress to appropriate personnel leadership; encourages and empower staff to report deficiencies and report back on progress.
- Oversees non-clinical operational flow and redirects and allocates resources as necessary; ensures appropriate staff are proficient in communication processes such as, EMR Bedboard management, telephone processes, Vocera hardware and software (database entry), all unit communication devices, and chart maintenance audit functions.
- Ensures staff are compliant with available technology to quantify turnaround times and uses the data available to identify process breakdowns and process improvements; reviews monthly Departmental Operating Statements with the leadership to review variance and other budget opportunities.
- Responsible for the daily Environment Of Care (EOC) on the inpatient, outpatient and public areas of the Hospital; collaborates with the department managers to ensure all regulatory measures are met in accordance with the EOC; identifies trends, researches, and introduces best practices and discusses new equipment options with care team and facilitates implementation of non-clinical operations on the units.
- Monitors performance metrics for inpatient redesign, employee and patient satisfaction; suggests and implements appropriate suggested changes.
- Schedule major project work ensuring the coordination of adequate staff and supplies available for completion while adhering to regulatory standards/guidelines and policy and procedures; supports facility goals and objectives as they relate to third party patient survey process.
- Represents Labor Management meetings; is an active member of Environment of Care Committee, Employee Incident Committee, and other committees as necessary; assists with all required regulatory reporting and process reporting.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 6-10 years of relevant experience and 5-7 years of leadership / management experience, required.
