Inpatient Medical Coding Auditor - Remote

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience (facility-based auditing and coding experience).

Travel: None required

About the role:

As an ICD-10 Auditing Consultant Inpatient, you will make an impact by playing a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding for inpatient records.

You will be a valued member of the Cognizant team and work collaboratively with stakeholders and team.

In this role, you will:

- Ensure Coding Accuracy and Compliance

* Conduct thorough reviews of inpatient ICD-10 coded records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

- Enhance Clinical Documentation Quality

* Collaborate with physicians through a structured query process to clarify diagnoses and procedures, supporting accurate and complete clinical documentation.

- Deliver Expert-Level Coding and Education

* Assign precise ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes using 3M encoder tools and provide ongoing education and mentoring to clients on coding, billing, and compliance best practices.

- Support Quality Assurance and Peer Review

* Perform peer reviews of coding staff to maintain high standards of coding quality and consistency, ensuring a minimum accuracy rate of 98%.

- Drive Continuous Improvement and Client Satisfaction

* Stay current with industry standards and regulatory changes, contributing to audits, reports, and special projects that enhance client outcomes and operational excellence.

What you need to have to be considered:

Required Education and Experience

* High school diploma.

* Minimum of 5 years of related work experience facility-based auditing and coding experience

* Basic- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

* Knowledge of Federal, state and payer regulations

* Capable of interpreting medical records reports and chart entries

* Able to work independently and as a team member

* Capable of applying judgment and decision making

* Basic background with computers with ability to be in multiple systems at 1 time

* Well organized and able to handle multipole projects as needed.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* Able to be flexible and adaptable to change.

Preferred Qualifications

* CCS, RHIT or RHIA (AHIMA)

* ICD-10 Certified Trainer/Ambassador

Salary and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is between $35.00 - $37.50 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
