Job Summary Responsible for providing day-to-day guidance and support for safety and health management within the assigned business unit (BU). Monitors compliance with all applicable governmental regulations and company safety requirements. Uses technical and business-unit-specificknowledge to facilitate the development of improvement initiatives regarding safety and industrial hygiene. Key Accountabilities * Provides guidance and support to the assigned Business Unit / Client on safety and health policies, regulations and best practices. * Identifies and partners with the BUs to resolve safety-relatedissues. * Leads or participates in Corporate Safety Level project(s) (i.e., assessment, initiatives, sampling plans). * Supports enterprise safety initiatives implementation within assigned BU. * Corporate Safety Standard(s) Ownership * Works with BU to solve safety and industrial hygiene problems. * Is a member of the emergency response and emergency planning leadership team. * Keeps the leader abreast of safety and health issues and concerns within assigned area of responsibility. * May lead corporate safety huddles, assign working sessions, and/or assigned sub-committees. * Manages Incident and Accident (IA) log entries into system for the respective BU. * Oversees the development and administration of the Corporate Safety Standards. * Assists leadership with regulatory inspections (e. g. MIOSHA). * Performs Condition-Based Inspections, including mock inspections, confined space, satellite locations, walk downs, etc. * Administers and maintains existing safety and health programs, policies, and procedures * Utilizes knowledge of Safety Playbook/Safety Maturity Model Processes and applies accordingly. * Works with BU partners regarding incident/injury event management, including conducting investigations, developing countermeasures, etc. * Leads recordable/Potential Serious Injury and Fatality (PSIF) Incident investigations with root causal analysis. * Ensures incidents are maintained per record-keeping standard requirements * Assists with the development and delivery of safety and industrial hygiene-related reports, presentations, and training. * Routinely participates in respective BU level 3 and 2 safety committee meetings and participates in level 1 meetings as available. Safety & Health Specialist Level * High School diploma or GED with 6 years of relevant experience in a utility, industrial, or manufacturing operation where safety or safety compliance was a significant area of responsibility; OR * Bachelor's Degree in a related science field/discipline with 4 years of relevant experience in a utility, industrial, or manufacturing operation where safety or safety compliance was a significant area of responsibility. Senior Safety & Health Specialist Level
Bachelor's Degree in a related science field/discipline with 6 years of relevant experience in a utility, industrial, or manufacturing operation where safety or safety compliance was a significant area of responsibility. Other Qualifications * Experience in leading safety committees. * Knowledge of Maximo Corrective Actions, SAP, SRM, and Safety Management data systems, as well as the ability to create and utilize spreadsheets. * Proficient computer skills to create and utilize spreadsheets and develop effective reports and presentations. * Experience using company audit protocols to evaluate business unit safety programs and effectively communicating audit results through written reports. * Experience in problem analysis, problem solving, negotiations, and conflict management. * Must be available to respond to emergency events 24 hours / 7 days / 365 days per year. * Experience and skills working with people at all levels of the organization to build teamwork, enthusiasm, engagement, and promote safety excellence. * Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with peers on the DTE Energy Corporate Safety staff and assigned Business Unit/Client.
