JOB SUMMARY The DevOps Cloud Engineer is a vital member of the Enterprise Systems and Services team. This role is responsible for leveraging CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Azure DevOps (ADO) to manage, optimize, and maintain cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. The primary goal is to support the organization's healthcare applications and services. In addition to these core responsibilities, the DevOps Cloud Engineer will address digital transformation challenges, ensuring that technology systems and services align with industry best practices. This role is crucial in accelerating the adoption of a multi-cloud infrastructure at UT Southwestern, driving innovation and efficiency throughout the organization. This position does not sponsor H1B Visa's and incumbent must reside in the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex. Position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in computer science, math, information systems, or other related field. OR Associate's Degree and 4 years of experience. OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years progressively responsible and applicable information technology experience
- Experience
2 years of deep technical experience in infrastructure design, build and deployment, including private and public cloud, networking, connectivity, storage, virtualization, and identity. Implementation of Azure networking for enterprise organizations Securing, managing, and monitoring Azure environments Experience building and deploying resilient Azure cloud architectures Experience with best practice guidance like the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure Well versed in Windows Server, VMWare and Active Directory Experienced in the use of Azure platform services to IaaS, PaaS solutions Experience with the Azure CLI, PowerShell/Azure PowerShell, and the Azure Portal Experience with configuration management and automation technologies Experience working with or using Azure technologies such as virtual machines, blob, queues, tables, Cloud Services, web apps, functions apps, Azure Active Directory, Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, etc. An equivalent combination of education and/or directly related experience may be substituted in lieu of the stated requirements.

JOB DUTIES
- Identifies and proposes innovative and creative cloud solutions that enhance or increase the efficiency of the services provided by Information Resources to the campus community.
- Applies IaC concepts for configuration management & immutable infrastructure.
- Deploys and manages immutable infrastructure.
- Performs network troubleshooting at the cloud level, using associated tools, i.e., network traces.
- Manages cloud services running in a combined directory services environment and handles associated configurations and rights assignments.
- Works with cloud security components, both with identifying potential vulnerabilities and remediating said vulnerabilities where applicable.
- Analyzes and remediates problems involving cloud infrastructure, operating systems, database systems, applications, or other related technologies associated with cloud services. This includes troubleshooting issues using proficiencies with the proper tools and utilities.
- Collaborates with system users and engineers to make recommendations, receive feedback, and test additions and/or enhancements to the cloud environment so that the systems and any associated/hosted applications are updated, tested, developed, and implemented as required.
- Proposes policies for cloud infrastructure, operating system, and associated storage layout and design; works in tandem with the scientific and technical community using knowledge of future trends to produce a combined systems solution that is based on user and system engineer needs.
- Installs cloud infrastructure, operating systems, and associated application upgrades, in a manner that maintains proper system integrity.
- Consults with end users, application analysts, and vendors as a component of leading assigned project efforts; this includes the initial design and development phases, specifications and pricing, and the follow-on system design, build, configuration testing, go-live, and project closure tasks.
- Develops documentation relative to assigned cloud projects and tasks, including documentation related to system testing, disaster recovery, and routine system administration processes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
