POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The HVAC EMCS Technical Lead sets the pace for HVAC and EMCS Technicians; performs HVAC and/or technician duties as needed.

The HVAC EMCS Technical Lead will:




  • Supports Operations Manager in department scheduling and administration and serves as lead over HVAC and EMCS Technicians in the absence of the Operations Manager. This is a working lead position.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs high and low-pressure piping and associated devices on heating systems.
  • Draws samples of boiler water and perform required chemical analysis for sulfites, P alkalinity, M alkalinity, chlorides, nitrates, conductivity, total dissolved solids, etc. Once testing is complete, treats system with appropriate chemicals to ensure optimum operation and maximum longevity of system under test.
  • Estimates and establishes information on man-hours and materials required for each job assigned.
  • Uses knowledge of electronic and pneumatics to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of control systems.
  • Performs necessary and essential electrical work required to maintain and operate heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs ice making equipment, ventilation and exhaust systems, air ducts with actuating dampers, remote AC equipment and other air tempering equipment.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs hot water boilers, heat pumps of various tonnage, low pressure steam boilers, forced air, and other related equipment.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs air compressors.
  • Becomes knowledgeable in and utilizes the government's Recurring Work Program in maintaining systems on base.
  • Performs inspections of installed analog/ digital sensors, switches, actuators, valves, and associated components.
  • Interprets ladder and block programming control logic.
  • Tests and balances mechanical heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. These systems include variable air volume, constant volume, multi-zone ducts, and exhaust systems.
  • Uses a variety of instruments, including pressure gauges, manometers, anemometers, barometers, and contact rpm gauges.
  • Reads and interprets mechanical/ digital control system drawings and project specifications.
  • Uses laptop computers and various analytical software/ hardware interfaces to analyze EMCS systems.
  • Performs other related duties associated to the job classification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requirements:



  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain Flight Line Driving Permit.
  • CPR certification.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively with personnel at all levels; ability to work harmoniously with others.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand American English to an eighth-grade level for a working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings, as per contract requirement.
  • EPA Technician Certification (CFCs and HFCs).
