Assistant General Counsel - Employment Law Job ID: 98122 We are seeking an attorney to join the Legal Department's Employment Law Team with a focus on North America (US and Canada), based in Atlanta. Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day?
If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
In this role you will be a part of McKinsey's global Strategic Legal team, consisting of nearly 100 legal experts globally across a range of practice areas (including Immigration, Data Privacy, Corporate, M&A, International Trade and Sanctions, and Procurement) with whom you will work closely on strategic initiatives and day-to-day advice and counsel.
You will support and advise on all facets of the firm that touch our "People", including firm leadership, the Global Partner Office, Compensation, Recruiting, HR, Professional Development, Talent, Ethics & Compliance, the External Worker Center of Excellence, and the firm's disciplinary committees. As work with these McKinsey functions often spans the globe, ability and familiarity in navigating different cultures and legal regimes are a must, as are strong communication skills.
This position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities and is global in nature, with an emphasis on supporting the North America (United States and Canada) region. This opportunity will allow you to problem-solve and advise firm stakeholders on People issues including compliance with anti-discrimination laws, wage and hour matters, disability and leave matters, disciplinary/ performance matters, contracts (offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, secondments, mobility transfers, non-disclosure agreements, etc.), diversity and inclusion efforts, compensation, restrictive covenants, independent contractor matters, and other personnel issues.
Additionally, you'll be responsible for conducting or supporting internal misconduct investigations and advising on complex separations. You will also work alongside the rest of the team in managing the firm's involvement in actual or potential employment litigation (including managing outside counsel) and regulatory audits and administrative matters (including OFCCP, DOL, EEOC, and similar), and supporting strategic initiatives (regional and global) such as office openings, acquisitions, and other workforce changes. Your Growth
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues-at all levels-will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won't find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
