Job Summary:

This role involves planning, developing, designing, coordinating, and reviewing architectural work on large, complex projects. The Senior Architect will lead design efforts including specifications, building code analysis, technical reports, and construction documentation. Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, coordinating with internal and external teams, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Project Overview:

The project supports a major defense program aimed at modernizing U.S. ground-based strategic deterrent infrastructure, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch facilities. This includes engineering and construction support for ground infrastructure during the current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase. The scope of work spans technical design, regulatory compliance, and coordination with multiple stakeholders in a highly secure environment.

Major Responsibilities:




  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate architectural tasks, including original designs, layouts, and specifications



  • Analyze conflicting design requirements and propose solutions



  • Evaluate unconventional materials or techniques for suitability



  • Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, conceptual studies, and proposals



  • Coordinate with vendors, clients, contractors, engineering disciplines, and other stakeholders



  • Draft procurement and subcontract documents and conduct technical bid evaluations



  • Mentor junior architectural staff and provide technical guidance



  • Lead and participate in constructability reviews and technical discussions



  • Perform building code analysis and ensure regulatory compliance



  • Develop architectural models, layouts, and renderings using 3D software



  • Provide support to construction by managing change requests and nonconformance reports




Education and Experience Requirements:




  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Architecture



  • 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of architectural work experience




Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:




  • Experience in facility design, code compliance, Revit modeling, and rendering



  • Proficiency with CADD applications, especially Revit



  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications



  • Strong understanding of architectural and construction documentation



  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information in written and verbal formats



  • Capable of coordinating across disciplines, construction teams, and client representatives




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Master's degree in Architecture



  • Experience working with government or defense agencies



  • Knowledge of CSI MasterFormat specifications or SpecsIntact



  • Familiarity with procurement automation tools



  • Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide




Location:

This position is located in Ogden, UT, supporting a nationally critical infrastructure project. Work is performed fully onsite in a secure facility. The area offers a mix of outdoor recreation, scenic beauty, and community amenities.
