The goal of the MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is to promote access to evidence-based, specialist-level palliative care for patients and families coping with serious or advanced illness, whenever and wherever palliative care is needed across the continuum of health care.

The MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care pursues this goal through an array of on-site and web-based educational programs and thorough research that focuses on the needs of populations with serious illness.

The primary purpose of the position is to supervise activities and resources required in the conduct of research studies, in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines; to oversee scheduling of study procedures, data collection and data entry in RedCap or other electronic database; to train study personnel; to facilitate the development and implementation of workflow; to contribute to dissemination of research findings; and to support investigators, biostatisticians and external collaborators on clinical studies. The position reports to the Director of Clinical Research and Analytics of the MJHS Institute.

  • Knowledge of research methods as normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in basic science or related clinical field.
  • Working knowledge of research methods and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and database computer software - RedCap Database. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • At least two years of direct experience as Research Coordinator or a similar position on a clinical trial.
  • Microsoft Word; Microsoft PowerPoint
  • RedCap Database
  • Hands-on experience with neuromodulation devices and supporting technologies.
  • Completed training in protection of human subjects in biomedical research (a CITI or NIH certificate).
  • Able to manage resources and support personnel involved in the conduct of clinical research.
  • Develop study materials and workflows
  • Precisely implement and manage study procedures as outlined in the protocol, meticulously maintain study documentation, and explain study protocols to patients and professionals.
  • Able to train study personnel in study procedures at the direction of a supervisor.
  • Must be able to work with technological equipment after training (iPads, tablets, devices).
  • Able to disseminate research findings via research manuscripts and presentations at meetings and conferences.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
