Position Summary

The Salvation Army St. Paul Eastside Corps is "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners.

The Data Entry Assistant is responsible for accurate data entry of social services programs into The Salvation Army Information Management System (SIMS) and The Salvation Army Mission Manager (TSAMM.)

$18.00/hour, 19 hours/week

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)



  • Data Entry (40%): Accurately and efficiently enter information into the SIMS database.
  • Data Verification (20%): Verify the accuracy of data in SIMS and TSAMM.
  • Inquiry Response (15%): Respond to inquiries regarding entered data.
  • Confidentiality (10%): Protect the confidentiality of all client records.
  • Document Management (5%): Maintain and secure received data and source documents, filing or routing source documents after entry.
  • Database Support (5%): Support the maintenance and integrity of the SIMS database.
  • Technical Support Coordination (5%): Contact the SIMS help desk to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.



Education and Experience



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with a management information system, preferred.
  • Must pass background checks, possess a valid driver's license, and meet MVR requirements.

  • Demonstrated computer/internet literacy and typing accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and complete moderately complex instructions.
  • Flexible interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of honor in dealing with confidential information.
  • Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence.



Working Conditions



  • Mostly sedentary work, sitting for long periods and working on a computer.
  • Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
  • Must communicate clearly with colleagues and participants, and work in person or on the phone.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Standard business hours.



Travel/Driving Requirements



  • Infrequent travel by agency or personal vehicle throughout the metro area to support the mission.
