Position Summary

Provides on-site support for the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and related devices and equipment to contracted facilities in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards and facilities goals and policies.

Duties

  • Cleans, disinfects, or calibrates scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer instructions for use (IFU) and facility standards.
  • Operates all mechanical machinery within the department such as, but not limited to, Automatic Reprocessing Machines (AER) and Flushing Machine within endoscope processing
  • Works independently and proficiently in all areas of endoscopy processing including decontamination, HLD, clean area, and storage processes aligned with IPS professional standards and regulations.
  • Maintains inventory of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
  • Performs safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning.
  • Understands and promotes concepts of the Lean work environment.
  • Communicates in a professional manner to all hospital staff and company employees.
  • Refers all decisions beyond personal scope of responsibility to their Managers and/or STERIS leadership if necessary.
  • Participates in in-services and educational offerings provided by STERIS in the facility.
  • Responds and supports requests made by STERIS leadership or Customer with ensuring requested scopes are prioritized and available for Customer needs.
  • Uses established policies and procedures to complete work assignments.
  • Report's repair needs and/or machine failures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Degree
    Required Experience

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent required
    2. 1-2+ years of sterile processing experience with scope experience, endoscopy, or transferrable experience required.
    3. Must maintain Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER).
    4. Must maintain certification(s) by completing Continuing Education Credit Hours (CEU's) in accordance with renewal schedule.
    5. Demonstrate proficiency with trays and/or instrumentation, and the ability to perform all endoscopic duties without close supervision.
    6. Ability to perform all job requirements of an Endoscopy Technician I.
    7. Leadership discretion based on satisfactory performance, validation of skill level. Productivity, quality, and attendance must meet company standards, including performance rating of successful or above in all areas.

    Preferred Experience

    1. Completion of a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist such as Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) preferred.
    2. Awareness of one of the education topics: Microbiology and Infection Control, Endoscope Purpose, Design, and Structure, Endoscope Reprocessing Steps, Endoscope Handling, Transport, and Storage, Endoscope Tracking, Repair, and System Maintenance, Human Factors That Impact Endoscope Systems

    Skills

    Pay range for this opportunity is$20.91-$29.27.

    Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
