Essential Job Duties |
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative professional with a passion for food, nutrition and wellness to serve as the Marketing Communications Manager for NC State Dining. As the Marketing Communications Manager, you will have direct responsibility to develop and implement marketing and communication plans to promote the department's dining locations and services. This includes the dining halls, restaurants, and convenience stores/markets as well as the various program features, such as culinary excellence, nutrition and sustainability.
Reporting to the director of strategic marketing and communication, you'll be a part of the Campus Enterprises marketing and communication team.
Below is a concise breakdown of the 7 core areas of operations you will be responsible for.
Marketing
Responsible for leading strategic marketing efforts for NC State Dining, including planning and executing print, digital, outreach, and website projects. Duties include setting and evaluating short- and long-term marketing goals, collaborating on creative asset development, coordinating with stakeholders, and advising senior leadership on brand strategy and sensitive communications. Additional tasks include managing budgets, editing marketing materials, maintaining websites and social media, and ensuring compliance with print and signage standards. Proficiency with design tools and knowledge of photography and food styling are advantageous.
Project Management
Manage marketing projects by prioritizing deliverables, tracking progress in a project management system, and maintaining regular stakeholder communication. Oversee task assignment and deadline coordination for team members, ensuring clarity and timely completion of all project components.
Technology
Oversee digital communication efforts by maintaining up-to-date website content in coordination with the digital content manager, managing the division's electronic billboard platform, supporting mobile app promotion, and distributing email communications via Mailchimp. Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and systems, providing leadership with recommendations for potential adoption.
Public Relations
Create and edit news content, pitch stories to media outlets, and represent the department at student events and orientation sessions. Collaborate with campus news services to enhance visibility of programs and services. Manage sensitive communications with integrity and lead the development and ongoing assessment of strategic communication initiatives to ensure effective outreach.
Communication
Plan and execute marketing and public relations initiatives in collaboration with directors, targeting key audiences through print, digital media, events, and promotions. Write and edit a wide range of content, ensuring accuracy-especially when communicating about meal plans and allergies-and adherence to AP style and university brand guidelines. Leverage strong public speaking skills and deep knowledge of culinary terminology to engage and inform varied audiences.
Branding
Lead the development and maintenance of a consistent, innovative brand identity for NC State Dining, ensuring all marketing, communications, and print materials align with departmental and university brand standards.
Customer Service
Provide excellent customer service to partners within the department. |

- Model the Division's mission and values, introduce the Division's mission and values to the employees, and foster a positive, cohesive workplace and congeniality among co-workers.
- Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and understand how employees' work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.
- Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Required Qualifications |
- Demonstrated project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects in a high-volume environment.
- Experience developing and implementing marketing strategies using a variety of media with an emphasis on social media.
- Proficiency with editing in Adobe graphic design suite including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Experience with web content management systems.
- Experience in email marketing systems; experience with MailChimp a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of national trends and best practices in marketing and communications.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate, develop partnerships and work effectively as a member of a fast-paced, results-oriented team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications |
- 3-5 years of experience, which may include applicable internship experience.
- At least three years of combined professional and internship experience relevant to requirements for the position.
- Demonstrated success managing, supervising and mentoring employees.
- Demonstrated interest in hospitality, culinary and nutrition.
- Demonstrated experience organizing and developing leaders through practical application and learning.
