Essential Job Duties
The Lonnie Poole Golf Course is seeking reliable and energetic individuals to Join our Pack as a Groundskeeper.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Landscaping and sodding
  • Applying fertilizer and pesticides on and around the course under the direct supervision of an employee who is licensed in Ornamental & Turf Pest Control
  • Cutting grass on the tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes and greens
  • Golf course upkeep
  • Sprinkler system maintenance, fencing and tree trimming


Equipment used includes, but not limited to, walking and riding mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools.

As a temporary employee, you are eligible for the following temporary employee perks designed to enhance your personal and professional well-being.

This is an hourly position, that includes a State required 32-day break at the end of 11 months. Superior work performance may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advance into a benefits eligible permanent position.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.


Department Required Skills

  • Be dependable and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities and assignments according to work schedule.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in outside conditions, and perform strenuous physical labor.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs without assistance frequently.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions, and complete all tasks with excellence.
  • Establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Experience working in a golf course environment.
  • Experience performing the following work duties: landscaping; sodding; applying fertilizer and pesticides on and around the course; cutting grass on the tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes and greens; golf course upkeep, sprinkler system maintenance, fencing, tree trimming.
  • Previous experience using any of the following equipment: walking and riding mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools.
