Temporary Developer and Data Analyst

This position will support the development and implementation of innovative imaging techniques to assess egg quality. The work will involve the use of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional image capture methods, followed by rapid image analysis to non-destructively evaluate the quality and extent of degradation in individual eggs. Central to this approach is the calculation of net density values for each egg, serving as a key metric for quality assessment.

The developed methods will enable comparisons of the degradation rates between caged and cage-free eggs under varying storage temperatures and timelines. Insights from these comparisons will contribute to the initial development of a rapid, near-real-time method for estimating egg quality grades.

Additionally, the position will support the design of a system for high-speed, automated quality rating and sorting of individual eggs. This will allow for real-time diversion of eggs into appropriate downstream applications, such as fresh sales, pasteurization for liquid use, or spray drying.
