Job Summary:

The Bindery - Operator II is responsible for the setup, operation, and routine maintenance of assigned machinery, ensuring a quality product is produced in a safe and efficient manner. They strive to meet or exceed company performance goals and customer satisfaction levels, while prioritizing safety and adhering to company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:



  • Properly set up and operate machines, such as Perfect Binder and Saddle Stitcher, safely and efficiently daily.
  • Read, follow, and interpret work instructions, job tickets, and ship reports accurately.
  • Effectively troubleshoot mechanical and operational problems on Perfect Binder and/or Saddle Stitcher.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on Perfect Binder and/or Saddle Stitcher equipment weekly.
  • Meet or exceed waste and throughput standards set by the company.
  • Lead and coach crew members to maximize efficiency.
  • Verify and guide temporary employees in performing tasks.
  • Collaborate with team to inspect and ensure product quality daily, meeting customer requirements.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

  • Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.


Working Conditions/Physical Demands:



  • Required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls, tools or equipment.
  • May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.
  • May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
  • May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.


Minimum Requirements:



  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Previous experience as a binder operator preferred.
  • Previous experience with print, bindery, and/or similar equipment preferred.
