Regional Medical Director

Area of Responsibility Nashville, TN

Schedule - 20-30 hours weekly (M-F, flexibility with days and hours)
Responsible for leading and developing the business/clinical strategy and growth of home-based palliative care in collaboration with executive leadership. This role maintains responsibility for the clinical outcomes for palliative care in collaboration with dyad clinical operations partner. Responsible for medical oversight of clinical providers as needed and management of direct clinical responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as clinical leader for palliative care in business development and internal strategy sessions.
  • Works with executive leadership of the business line to support strategic growth and clinical model development and planning.
  • Delivers presentations on the program and model to internal and external stakeholder groups and health plans.
  • Develops workflows and care delivery models in partnership with clinical and central operations.
  • Monitors and manages towards quality outcomes for the program.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary consultation services in palliative care. Supports collaboration with the primary and specialty medical team to establish a plan of care throughout a patient's disease trajectory.
  • Supports development of care pathways to improve coordination of care for patients with complex medical conditions and/or needs.
  • Educates Palliative Care at Home staff regarding palliative care, including but not limited to appropriate pain and symptom management, grief, and interdisciplinary approaches to caring for patients facing life-threatening or life-limiting conditions.
  • Provides back-up support for on-call medical coverage as needed.
  • Assists in the development of standards of care.
  • Provides collaborative oversight and medical supervision to mid-level providers.
  • Executes effective clinical competency redirection when needed through coaching, mentoring, and formal/on-the-job training and development opportunities.
  • Complies with policies, procedures and regulatory mandates including but not limited to abiding to the terms of the Amedisys Compliance Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Current, active physician licensure (MD or DO) in good standing in the state of Tennessee.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice, or Palliative Medicine.
  • Certification from ABMS, AOA, or HMDCB. BC/BE.
  • Five (5+) years of experience managing patients with medically complex and chronic illnesses.
  • Five (5+) years of home care and/or palliative care/hospice experience.
Preferred:
  • Clinical leadership experience, including management of teams.
